Yahoo Expanding In India; Plans To Hire 400-Plus Over Next Year

By Staci D. Kramer - Mon 18 Aug 2008 02:47 PM PST

After a recruitment slowdown that coincided with the Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) bid saga, Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) is planning to hire more than 400 employees in India, according to Business Standard. Most of the hires will be for its 1,500-person Centre of Excellence in Bangalore, where the focus is on India and other emerging markets. Positions to be filled include architects, user experience designers (UEDs), and programme managers. One interesting twist: hoping to keep young employees who want higher educations, Yahoo has worked out an MS curriculum with BITS-Pilani to be taught in Bangalore.
